Waffles

This waffle recipe is my favorite for crispy edges and a buttery deliciousness. Whipping the egg whites before adding them to the batter totally pays off in the fluffy interior!

Ingredients:

  • (Waffle)

  • 2 eggs, separated

  • 2 tsp sugar

  • 1 1/3 cups flour

  • 4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

  • 1 3/4 cup milk

  • (Toppings)

  • Maple syrup

  • Whipped cream

  • Strawberries

  • Cinnamon

  • Powdered sugar

Directions:

(Waffle) Preheat your waffle iron. (I usually put mine on level 4, but that’s about medium heat)

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all of the dry ingredients.

Measure out the milk in a large measuring cup and separately melt the butter in the microwave.

Separate the eggs, adding the yolks to the milk, and placing the whites in a stand mixer bowl.

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks, and set aside.

Add the milk mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredient mixture and mix everything together.

Fold stiff egg whites into the batter.

(Cook) Spoon the batter into the waffle iron and wait until it’s done.

(Toppings) Slice fresh strawberries, whip heavy cream with a bit of sugar and vanilla extract, and pour maple syrup into a small sauce bowl.

Let the waffle cool on a cooling rack for a few minutes. Then, sprinkle on the cinnamon and powdered sugar, and the waffles are ready to eat!

NOTES:

  • I usually store extra batter in the refrigerator, and as long as you mix it up before cooking them, it turns out great!

Source Recipe: I believe it was All Recipes, but I emailed myself this recipe in like 2016 and they have since adjusted their waffle recipe a bit.
